If you or a family member has or is concerned about diabetes, you are invited to attend our free, evening diabetes classes. We have classes in English and in Spanish. They are held in our conference room on a regular basis; ask about the current schedule.
These popular classes are taught by Cheryl Moore, a certified diabetic nurse educator. It’s a warm and friendly setting to learn about the disease and ways to manage it. Information about healthy lifestyle choices and practical recipes are offered. Cheryl will answer all your questions. In addition, it’s an easy way to have your scheduled diabetic check done at the same time (fee).
One in 15 adult Oregonians has diabetes (nearly 1 in 7 for age 65 and over), a 35% increase in just ten years.
Diabetes is Oregon’s sixth leading cause of death. People with diabetes are more at risk for influenza, heart disease and stroke, nerve damage, kidney failure, loss of limbs, and blindness. They are twice as likely to suffer from depression. Tragically, the rate of disease is rising fastest in children.
That’s why we take this complicated disease so seriously at Inkwell Medical Group. Our diabetes education classes could make a difference for you and your family. Typically the classes are 15-20 in size. Spouses and affected family members are encouraged to attend.
